I had deeply looked into the college application process before I started college coaching. I'd heard thousands of tips on the dos and don'ts for the essays, to the point that I was overloaded with information. I sought out too much general advice and unsuccessfully tried to filter what would be most beneficial to my specific application. I am so grateful that Araceli worked diligently with me to clean through my disjointed styles and ideas that I'd crammed into each essay. She helped me find a strong voice and direction that portrayed the applicant I wanted colleges to see. I was surprised by how much my essays improved without diverting from their original ideas. I felt extremely confident submitting my applications and excited when I received my acceptances. I do not think I could have focused my essays to express what admissions committees are looking for nearly as well on my own.

Personalized advice is incredibly valuable. Each applicant is different. You have different strengths and interests to offer your future university. Coaching can help you express your unique appeal with the correct impression of your audience in mind. I only applied to two schools and was admitted to both of them. My goal was to get into Rice University and now, as a Rice Alumna, I could not be more grateful. It has been about 6 years since I worked with Araceli. I graduated from my dream school and remain so grateful. Her coaching made a fantastic impact on my life.

I worked with Mrs. Jonsson relatively late in my high school career during the summer before my senior year. My parents made it clear that I needed to get most of my college applications finished before the school year started so as to not be burdened with too much work. Mrs. Jonsson gladly made appointments any time of the day and whenever I felt I required assistance on essays or general application items.

College essays can be the most confusing and complicated part of the application process, and Mrs. Jonsson helped me really understand how to write the essays, and what details to include to catch the counselor’s attention. Before, my essays were bland and only somewhat interesting, but after, I was proud of what I had written and I was sure that it would impress anyone. With Mrs. Jonsson’s help, I got into several of the schools I applied to, such as USC, Georgia Tech, Case Western, UT Austin, A&M, and more. The amount of dedication that she has with her clients is immense, and it always helps to have someone besides your parents telling you to keep up the work and to not slack off. Before I began with Mrs. Jonnson, I was in the dark on what applying to college entailed, but after, I had a clear hold on the process and felt comfortable in my endeavors.

College was something that always stressed me out and I was a nervous wreck.  As the application dates got closer and closer, all I wanted to do was hide.  My mom recommended that I speak to Ms. Araceli, and my goodness I’m glad I did.  She helped me with my college essay and introduced some colleges to me that I had never heard of.  Through this, I learned about the University of Lynchburg and was encouraged to apply.  I went to visit the campus and learn more about the academic there, which caused me to fall in love with the school.  Without Ms. Araceli, I wouldn’t have found my home for the next four years, and I will be eternally grateful for everything she has done to help me find the right school for me!

I met with Mrs. Jonsson at a time where I felt under a lot of pressure to finalize my college applications. I gave her what crude essay drafts I had, and we scratched through idea after idea. That morning, my essays were her only concern. I really appreciated the dedication she showed me; she even took the time to get to know me personally in order to best comment and guide my essays in the right direction. Her expertise in college admissions and standardized tests also helped guide my expectations and goals over the coming months.

Mrs. Jonsson shifted my perspective regarding how to optimize my essays for a college application. She also provided valuable insight from a technical writing perspective, much of which I still use today. Even for the smaller essays, she served as an extra pair of eyes to look over my work and make sure that it complemented everything written before it. It was reassuring to receive the blessing of a professional before submitting some of the most important applications of my life at the time.
